VIRGIN MARY AND JESUS: ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree

The holidays are just around the corner! That's why I bring you this simple and quick tutorial to make the Virgin Mary and Jesus. They are very small, perfect for hanging on your Christmas tree. Materials:

- 100% Cotton thread: peach, light blue, white and brown

- Hook (1,1 mm) 

- Fiberfill

- Black thread for the eyes

- Scissors, stitch marker, rounds counter, tapestry needle.

 Abbreviations:

MR - magic ring	inc-  increase
ch – chain	BLO – back loop only
slst – slip stitch	FLO – front loop only
sc – single crochet	[ ] repeat the sequence
hdc – half double crochet	( )amount of stitches at the end of the round
dec – decrease	dc - double crochet

Let's begin!!

Virgin Mary

Head

Start con peach color:

1) 6 sc in MR (6)

2) 6 inc (12)

3) 1 sc, 1 inc (18)

4) to 7) 18 sc (18)

8) 1 sc, 1 dec (12) Fill

9) dec x 6 (6). Change to white color and continue.

Body

1) 6 sc (6)

2) 6 inc (12)

3) 1 sc, 1 inc (18)

4) 18 sc (18)

5) 2 sc, 1 inc (24)

6) 3 sc, 1 inc (30)

7) 30 sc (30)

8) 30 sc scrab stitch (Backward single crochet)

Mantle

1) 6 sc in a MR (6)

2) 6 inc (12)

3) 1 sc, 1 inc (18)

4) 5 sc, 1 inc (21)

5) 1 ch, turn, 14 sc, turn (14)

6) 1 inc. 12 sc, 1 inc (16) 

7) 1 ch, turn, 16 sc, turn (16)

8) 1 ch, 1 inc, 14 sc, 1 inc (18)

9) and 10) 1 ch, 18 sc (18)

- Sew it to the head.

- With brown color, embroider a fringe.

- Embroider eyes.

Arms

On each side of the body, join and make them like this:

1) 7 ch and from the fifth one: make 5 sc. Close. 

Legs (make 2)

1) 2 ch, in the first one: 4 sc. Close with slst.

2) 15 ch. Cut and leave a long thread.

- Pass both legs through the dress towards the head and secure. 

JESUS

With beige:

1) 4 sc in a MR (4)

2) to 3) 4 sc. Cut.

Mantle

With brown:

1) 6 sc in a MR (6)

2) 6 inc (12)

3) 1 sc, 1 inc (18). Cut.

- Put the baby inside the mantle. Sew or glue it.

- Glue the hands of the Virgin to the baby.
